So I'm about to build my first gaming rig and these are the components I have in mind.

Asus H97M-E

Intel i5-4460

Seasonic G-550 80+ Gold

Samsung 850 Evo 120GB SSD

WD Caviar Blue 1TB

Corsair Vengeance 8GB 2x4GB DDR3 1600 CL9

Corsair Carbide Spec-03

Just about when I'm about to purchase an Asus Strix GTX 960 2GB... I came across some posts about Pascal GPUs releasing this year. Having read about how awesome the new release would be, it made me think twice on my graphics card.

Since I'm only going to play CS:GO and Dota 2, maybe some GTA V and NBA 2K16/17. I'm now thinking on getting the Palit GTX 750Ti for the meantime, and upgrade to the pascal cards when It's released.

Would this be a good move for me? I'm concerned on when they will release a Pascal card equivalent to the current GTX 950/960 price point but of course, with more performance.

You could probably play CS:GO and Dota with integrated graphics if your CPU has it, but not GTA. A 750 ti would be a good hold over until polaris/pascal if you are aware you probably wont get much back if you resell the 750 ti. If it was me since a 750 ti is only around $100 I would get the 750 ti now and upgrade when Polaris/Pascal comes out.

Gaming - Ryzen 9800X3D | 64GB 6400mhz cl30 9070 XT

Homelab - many servers...constantly changing.

3970X/256GB - 5950X/128GB ECC - 5600G/96GB - 3400GE/16GB - 3400GE/16GB

Get a used 7950 to hold you over.

It's a $100-110 difference for the 750Ti and 960. I wouldn't want to pay more for something I don't need (at least for the meantime). But playing my desired games with high to ultra settings is such a tease for me. Given that I'm coming from a faulty 3-year old pre-built dual core computer.

Going for a Skylake CPU and motherboard would stretch my already stretched-out budget.
