PC performance problems

I have been playing CS:GO on my PC for a while now, a week or two ago, It was playing absolutely fine at 60fps with a few drops to around 55 here or there. Now it has become completely unplayable at a competitive level, with my fps regularly dropping to below 40. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!
