performance optimizer program?

my pc is basically full of viruses and crap, i have an fx 8350 and a gtx 645 2GB gddr5 and it is not preforming so well... is there some (free) software for this? i didn't just want to go looking on the googlez because I do not trust all that crap... wow I sound like a grandma who doesn't know the difference between a pc and a laptop :P
