Hey everyone, I need help with my laptop. I have been experiencing random shutdowns and complete laptop spasms that seem to be caused by overheating. but I have been monitoring the temps every closely and they are only reaching half of the overheat point in the things i'm trying to do. My laptop is an Acer e5-573g-52g3 with the hard drive replaced with a samsung 850 evo 500GB.

Thanks in advance.

are you getting a bluescreen or any error messages?

it's not a blue screen but the screen displays a random mash of colors, that looks like the monitor broke. I then have to hold down the power button and wait for it to turn itself back on. I know it sounds like an overheat but the temps just aren't high enough for a spaz like the ones that are happening.

I See, this really sounds like a hardware failure. Make sure that your BIOS is up to date and run a memtest on your RAM. Also run the chkdsk command on your hard drive in order to see if it is the hard disk at all.

If they're lines going up and down the screen, I'd guess a faulty monitor ribbon cable or a loose connection for it.

If its more like some kind of techno abstract art show with no rhyme or reason, then I'd suspect the GPU is pooched or lacking thermal paste/heatsink.

If still under warranty, now's probably the time to cash in that chip.

It definetly looks more like the second explanation, I also forgot to mention that i replaced the thermal paste on it. I guess i didn't put enough of it then.
