What are peoples opinion on custom builds in regards to selecting the parts then getting a company to build it for you. Sure it may cost a little more, but they do burn it in for you and give you a warranty (2 or 3 years). I'm not talking Dell here as they aren't truly customizable. I think it a great option for people who aren't comfortable about building their own but do know what they want and don't want to be ripped off by Dell and others. Thoughts people?

Custom builds seems funner for me because i can touch and get new hardware. I can learn more about different cards and the way there designed. Letting a company build it gives better support and less incompatibility issues. But once again i personally rather do a custom build and have fun with it

Hi Draconorst,

when you say "custom builds" I think you mean that a company builds a computer with the components that you wish. For many others, a custom pc is a pc they built themself. Personally, I would research the subject, and then build it yourself. Warranty wise, some manufacturers give you 3, 5, 6, or lifetime warranty, and if you buy it in a "bundle" you do not have that extended warranty for those parts, it is all considered as "one". If however, you are not comfortable with assembling your own machine, you can select components and then have them assembled. In Switzerland, where I live, the largest online retailer will actually assemble your pc, with your components for no extra charge (or something very small), while you retain all of your warranties. to sum it up, both options are great, but getting a fully assembled pc by a company like Dell, Asus, HP etc. will almost always be with larger costs (as long as they let you really customize them)
