I bought a set of Primochill Revolver fittings for my build but some (about half) of the fittings are stuck together; I can't remove the top/cap/hat/whatever from the bottom half. There doesn't seem to be anywhere to grip it, either, like on my old Bits Power soft line fittings. Am I missing something? Do I just need to tighten the crap out of it then unscrew it?

I always see them screwed in first, then the top removed.

If they

If they are hardline compressions (which is what the picture looks like) then this ^ is your best bet.

If the opening is hexagonal like in some regular compressions, you need to stick a fat allan wrench/ hex key in the middle then twist the collar.

They are hard line fittings and that's how I separated the first half of them. When I do that with the remaining ones the whole thing comes out. The inside is completely round and the only flat spot where you'd be able to get a wrench or something on is on the lower half once you've already removed the top.

ah now I see what you mean, I was somehow confused in your build log.  If I could not get them apart any other way I would wrap that g 1/4 thread with rubber to protect the threads and gently hold it with some channel locks so you can turn the top by hand.  Other than that, maybe gently tapping them on all sides on a hard surface would let you get it by hand.  If you haven't tried that already

When I had that problem on the once I got, I simply used a wrench to hold the fitting then used my fingers to turn the other half.

If you need more grip then that, use 2 wrenches, 1 for each half. You might want to use something to prevent scratching the finish, just not something slippery like plastic.

I speak my mind, sorry if thats a problem.

Thought the rubber idea was interesting. Was going to get some hose from the auto parts store while I was out then remembered I have my soft tubing from my last water cooling setup.

Still left marks on the threading but it threaded so... win? Hopefully this works just as well on the rest of the fittings without damaging them as much.

ouch.  could you cut a piece of tubing open and fit it over as a second layer between the channel locks?  I'm surprised it did that.  Did the vice grips damage the top?  I would think you could twist that off by hand once you get a good grip on the base
