best GPU for 300

im running an  Radeon Hd 6870 that i bought in 2013, time to upgrade but i really dont know what i can get for 300, im playing CS:GO and my gpu is fine but i also want to play rust and hurtworld and other games but i really cant, even on really low setting and low res im geting 50-80 fps.

i5-760 2.8 overclock to 3.9 / radeon HD 6870 / 16G ram / evga p55 LE / 90 and 240 SSD + 1TB HD / 144HZ monitor

Both. Currently, a R9 380X is what I advise and then look into upgrading to an i5 4460

I believe you spent your money on a really nice monitor when you should have spent it on a better CPU/GPU.

You can get a sweet R9 290 for around that price but your CPU will keep you back.

I mean, even if you get a R9 390 or 970 it'll be pointless for the most part.

Go for the 380X from Sapphire - it's more than capable of maxing 1080p

i5 4460 + MSI H81 P33 board and you're good.

You have a Nahalem CPU. i5 4460 is Haswell. You need a Haswell-compatible board as well.

You can drop down to a PowerColor R9 380 4G (usually around 160-170$). it performs 10% worse but is still capable. Couple that with a 4460 (170$) and a H81 P33 (40$) and you can end up spending around 350-400$ and still have a sizable upgrade

I really don't see any  PowerColor R9 380  at 160, only 300+ I'm in CAN$ maybe I'm not on the best site to buy? recommendation?and btw, you are very helpful to me right now, I appreciate that,

Ooooh, CAD. Oh.oooh. Sorry. Yeah, I was talking in USD. I'd suggest using PCpartpicker.com for an easy way to find good prices.

In that case, drop the CPU upgrade for now, go for a R9 380 4G or 380X - whichever you can afford but avoid Asus and Gigabyte

It should be. There is a 0.1% chance that the board will need a Bios update but almost all boards have their bioses updated from the factory currently so It's a safe bet if you ask me.

PowerColor are very solid, a bit on the louder side, but solid support and quality
