Hi,
Title pretty much sums it up, but I'm planning a custom PC build (my first one) and it's going to be a dual boot Windows 10/Linux Mint system that will incorporate an X61 for CPU cooling. Anyone have any experience with the X61 on Linux (I'd imagine most distros would behave the same so any in general)? I found this thread on Reddit where it's stated that you can set the settings for the cooler like pump speed and LED color in Windows, then boot into Linux and the settings will be preserved within some RAM in the cooler. Can anyone verify/contradict this in their own experience? Any input would be greatly appreciated as I may end up having to change AIO coolers if the X61 won't run somewhat properly in Linux (where I'm hoping to do my day-to-day work in instead of in Windows). Thanks in advance!

Hehe that is actually the exact post I linked in my description (albeit the mobile version of the site, which I'll fix that in a second), so I have seen it already. I'm wondering if anyone with an X61 has actually been able to do what the NZXT folk claim you can do.

The fan speed won't be the same, but the LED setting should work well. My friend used to have an X61 and said that with Linux, his fan speed was slower, so you should watch out on that. Really, if you want to see if the LED setting works, try dual-booting Ubuntu yourself. You can uninstall it later

Interesting, thanks for that, very informative. Yeah I will most likely end up trying it regardless, have a few ideas for variations of wiring that might yield different results. Just curious if others have attempted this as well.
