Namecoins?

I was mining all night and I checked my account on my mining pool, turns out I got something called namecoins? and no bitcoins. What are these? How do I make them into bitcoins and where do I download my wallet?

use btc-e you can trade your namecoins for bitcoins

 

btw I'm mining litecoins they are 3 times more profitable than bitcoins.

btw feathercoins are kind of the same profitability as litecoins but are fairly new and not so much trusted

 

Edit: ps mining with cpu isn't profitable but you still have 1 so use it for some good --->>> folding@home

If you have a ASIC you still want to be mining Bitcoin. There are multiple SHA-256 coins you can mine, including Namecoin, but Bitcoin is still more profitable.

Why would I get namecoins? Is there a setting in Bitminter to change to bitcoins? I don't even have a namecoin address.

if your mining with bitminter you mine both coins at the same time and you can easily trade them for other coins or give them away if you don't want them

Bitminer has merged mining so you can mine both coins at once. I don't know how this affects performance on one coin or the other though.
