Thoughts on 6970?

He asked for our opinions and I gave mine why are you so defensive.

 

Not being defensive rather just presenting the facts. No need to debate over power consumption of high end cards as they typically have always consumed higher amounts of power in the ball park of higher than 200watts. I am just saying that you can't compare performance between parts that are many generations apart even when the consume similar power because of course the newer part will perform better and this is what we should expect. We should not except an extreme price hike though and today at $180 or whatever the HD 6970 is a pretty decent value though I personally would spend $20 more and just get an HD 7870 for similar or a bit better performance in many cases.

Does it preform well? Either way I'm looking for a single GPU configuration and it woud be nice for something powerful AND cheap.

Yes of course it performs well for the money. Also you can get an HD 7950 for just $214 on Newegg right now.

Well then don't say the raised the prices cause you like nvidia LOL. Question, why if you are like you said an "nvidia addict" did you start a thread about a value priced AMD card ? I will say this much to be true about nvidia and that is that the only good vaule card they have going was the GTX 760 but then the HD 7950 took that cred away when they dropped the price on the HD 7950 and undercut nvidia on there only good value/performance GPU.
