How holy are measurements

Stjanki
Go to solution Solved by ShadowCaptain,

the measurements are generally 100% accurate

So I've been wanting to get a new CPU cooler since I am running an overclocked 4690k processor and my cpu temps go to 80° Under prime95. I am currently running the Hyper 212 and I wanted to get the NH-d15 heatsink which claims to be 165MM in height on the box. However, my corsair graphite 230T computer case says my maximum heat-sink height can be 160. 5 F****** millimeters!

Does anybody have any experience with this? If not, could you recommend me a good heat-sink that will fit?

Thanks for replying. I noticed that the NH-d14 is exactly 160MM do you know if the performance loss is significant?

There's always 2mm margin of error. And that can be to either way. So case could as well have 158-162mm range. Like my own case should have 3mm free between sidepanel and cooler pipes. But there's only 1mm. As for Corsair cases they are known to have some more margin that what is said on site. 5mm is still bit too much to be relying on fact.

Thanks for the reply.

I will be picking up the NH-D14 today and installing it tomorrow. I will know if it fits by then :)
