The file from that topic. It's in the recycle bin and won't let me access it, it won't let me empty it.

I have a ton of explorer.exe crashes in event vierwer. Safe mode doesn't work. What now?

The file did no harm, I deleted it no problem.

Is the file still open in your media player used to play it ?

Used this to clear the recycle bin - http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/131294-recycle-bin-corrupted-cannot-delete-file-folder.html

It's gone now. Windows media player crashed when opening it

 

Run a virus scan?

Symantec found nothing

 

- Try to rename it and than delete again.

- Some antivirus programms can clean / delte a folder.

Did one. No bad sectors. no nothing. No SMART abnormalities either. A random folder called "40bbbasd12...." appeared out of nowhere, though, and it had a random installer in it.

Probably just a glitch in the file system due to a rare race condition....

Tun the test again. If the folder appears again you have a problem. If not it's most likely fine.

Running Malwarebytes atm. Will do so afterwards.

Question. Could it be caused by me trying to read a mov (apple) file with Windows Media Player?

can't set the file to open via VLC >.> - it autorecognizes using WMP and proceeds to freeze when I right-click it.
