Is this a good server setup? I was going to use it to run game servers such as Minecraft, Gmod, Terraria, TF2 etc.

Maybe a little folding on the side.

I wanted to try and cut the costs a little bit so if anyone can recommend cheaper parts with little compromises that would be great. (The CPU Cooler is there because it's quieter than stock, noise is pretty important)

looks good to me just to let you know that your internet plays a big roll as well. especially for minecraft servers with alot of people. seems pretty good though and should do the job

Yeah the reason why I'm going for quiet operation is I wanted to connect it to the router via Ethernet cable but in order to do that the server would need to be in the living room. Through a wired interface I get 38Mb/s and wireless I get about 18Mb/s. My ping is about 33 as well. Will that suffice?

its mainly your up connection that matters when it comes to minecraft. idk if what you said was upload or download speed but if thats your upload then you should be fine

Oh upload. More like 15 wired and 8 wireless. :c

No one else will be uploading anything massive so the server should get most of the bandwidth.

even with 8 you should be good for at least 10 to 20 people on vanilla minecraft, less on modded. keep in mind though that you will be on the internet as well so your going to be hitting a bit of the performance on your internet.

try to be using a wired connection though. they may experience a bit of lag because of wireless latency. higher ping for you means a even higher ping of others

There will probably not be more than 6-8 people on at any given time. That would include me.

you should be good then just like i edited in a second ago. i would seriously try to use a wired connection. the higher your ping is the higher everyone elses will be and more ping is more lag
