OBS bitrate

I was test recording CS:GO today and i noticed when my OBS bit rate is at 3500 it looks grainy on the windows movie and tv app. i turned up to 3900 and there was no visable difference. Is this a problem with windows or do i need to turn the bitrate higher? (my internet is capable, i get around 43Mbps upload speeds.)

i did forget to mention i downsample the video to 720p.

Twitch won't allow non-partnered streamers to have over 3500kbp/s bitrate, and even if you set it higher they'll lower the output quality there end i believe.

 

At 720p, depending on the game, 1800 - 2500kbps is ideal @30fps, due to not a lot of viewers having a decent internet connection.

 

 

Also, what encoder are you using? x264 encoding gives the best quality for livestreaming atm.

i'm using the x264 encoder. and this was just recording on OBS not streaming but i was not aware of the bitrate limit on twitch thank you for clarifying that.
