BIOS update question

Hi, i have a prebuilt PC from HP. In order to get my r9 380 to work, I have to update my BIOS. If im running windows 7, and the update for the bios is only in windows 8 and 8.1, can i still update the bios? There is no bios update for windows 7, but i really need this update. The update is for the same mobo, the only difference is the OS. and should I download the os 8 or 8.1 update?

Bios versions and bios updates are independent of the OS, regardless what version Windows your running.

 

Not sure why you would need to update bios to get the card working however.

Its a thing with the UEFI
