I'm going to be upgrading a system with an OEM windows key (from ibuypower) it currently has a single 1tb mechanical drive, but I'd like to throw a 240gb ssd into the mix as an OS drive. Would simply cloning the HDD (assuming it has less than 240gb of data on it) do the trick? Is there a way to find the oem key and reinstall from a USB?

You can just use software like Marcium reflect to clone the drive and format the 1tb. I did this with my laptop were I switched the 1tb mechanical out for 500gb ssd and I so far have gotten no problems with my windows key. If you can't clone the whole drive then the windows key should be with the paper work that ibuypower sent you with the pc. If it's not then get into a support chat with someone at ibuypower and they can find it for you. Then its just a simple a reinstalling windows on the new drive.

I just found out that the computer was put together by ibuypower but sold through Walmart...
