I am thinking about going with a difference case, PSU, and adding another GTX970 for 2 way SLI. The parts im thinking about are:
  • Case - Mastercase Pro 5 (not the mastercase 5)
  • PSU - HX850i
  • Graphics - Gigabyte Windforce GTX970 OC (pretty obvious with my current 970)
  • Keyboard - Steelseries APEX 350 (i dont like super mechanical keyboards. I have the Corsair Vengeance K70 right now and dont really like it)

What do you guys think about this? Any suggestions. Im not much for box style cases, which is why the MCP5 works for me. Also any suggestions on a keyboard?

Budget is under $800 for all of the above. THANKS!

I'm currently running my 2 970's on a 760W powersupply with no stability or power issues.

So an upgrade in that sense might not be needed obviously if you want the head room then go for it.

Maybe considered getting a dual rad cooler too?

See my Build here!

I think i may be having some issues with my current PSU (plus the headroom would be nice)

I know silicon lottery but i cannot OC my i7-6700k over 4.5GHz stabilly, and actually had some issues with it even at that with 1.325V. I had issues with my previous AMD setup OCing as well. I dont know if thats power delivery or not.

Also i just purchased that H80i GT recently and i like it. I may stick with it for now until i get some more cash for a good H110i

What do you suggest over the G930. I like wireless headphones and they HAVE to have a mic for TS and skype

Either way man it's a very similar setup to mine and it's killer! good for 1440p gaming if you decide to take that leap too!

I thought about that and its definitely on my possible future upgrades list

Dude. You have a 970. Wait for Pascal/Polaris. It's still enough for basically everything you can throw at it.

Also, instead of SLI 970s I'd rather have a single 980Ti.

Yeah that came to mind for sure. I know having a 980ti is the best option. I have never played with SLI before and wasnt able to foot the bill for a 980Ti when i got the 970, so i figured this would be the best option to play around with.

And yeah i probably should just wait for the Pascal/Polaris. I have some issues with GTA V LSPDFR mod at times with graphics not rendering quite right so i thought maybe bumping up now would help!

I was in very much the same boat in regards to the two 970's. Another plus is SLI looks killer!

The main problem with upgrading GPU right now is that the new ones are coming out in a few months, and they're rumored to be a big performance upgrade, compared to the 9x series.

If you buy a second 970 right now, and then Pascal/Polaris will turn out to be, let's say, 50% more efficient than your cards, you will want to upgrade, but at that point the price of used 970s will be low (high supply - everyone will be upgrading, low demand - no one will want previous generation if they can get new one for not much more) and you might have trouble selling, unless you decide to sell at a loss and pay more for new generation. ;)

As far as GTAV is concerned - sorry, can't help. I'm not really a gamer. I'm a filthy casual. Unless we're talking Starcraft. :P

Yeah they probalbly will be 50% faster. but even at that, i was rocking a solid 560ti until late this year. That being said i dont really need top of the line performance, i want as much performance now that i can ride it out. It makes sense to purchase the newest out or maybe wait till they come out and get a 970 for SLI when the price drops dramatically.

Rumors have it that both are going to be released mid-2016. I'd wait. :P
