I'm considering the ASUS Z170i Pro Gaming motherboard and it features an M.2 interface on the back. The specs say:

1 x M.2 Socket 3, with M key, type 2242/2260/2280 storage devices support (both SATA & PCIE mode)

(For a 2242 storage device, use the bundled 2242 mounting kit)

I need some M.2 SSD examples so I don't get the wrong connector type, etc.

ASUS has a video where they use a Kingston HyperX Predator M.2 2280 240GB PCI-Express 2.0 x4 (SHPM2280P2/240G) at 8:40

Is it better to get one (instead of SSD) for the OS and Programs, and use either an SSD or HDD for data storage?

What are the recommended scenarios using a combination of M.2, SSD and/or HDD?
