So my mom bought a prebuilt computer today for a freaking steal but there is only one problem. She demands that i put a GPU into it from my many graphics cards just lying around.  The problem is that whenever i put a GPU into it the computer wont display anything though either the card or the motherboard.  I think it is posting because if i hit delete to get into the BIOS i can turn it off instantly by just hitting the power button and if i don't try to get into the BIOS i have to hold the power button to shut it off.  But if I just take out the GPU all together the computer just reverts to integrated graphics and is fine.

I have a feeling that this is all windows 10's fault.  Recently i bought a GPU for myself and on the box it said that it was compatible with windows 10 so i'm thinking that her OS is causing the problem.  tomorrow i'm going to put my GPU into her computer to see if i can get it to display but until then any ideas on why it wont display?

I know the GPU (GT430) that i put into her computer isnt dead because i tested it in 2 other computers and it works fine.  I also have some unnamed card that is like 6 years old and my r9 390 I will be trying tomorrow.  I also have about 3 different power supplies to use but i doubt its that since the GT430 does not require supplementary power.

it does take up to 50 watts though, and with a prebuilt that may push it over the psu lmit

it has a 450W in it currently and it is a crappy knockoff brand by acer but this sytem isnt exactly sucking up power.  Her last computer was using the same GT430 with like a 350W PSU and was fine for years.  Tomorrow im going to put a 500W PSU into it so i can try an R9 390
