Speedstep not doing anything! URGENT!

Why is my speedstep not working :C

 

I am trying to overclock my cpu, I want adaptive voltage up to 1.3 ish volts and 4.5 GHz but cpu-z says that my voltage is constantly at 1.3 volts and 4.5 GHz AT IDLE

 

PLEASE SOME ONE HELP THIS MAKES NO SENSE.

where do I do that? btw isnt that only for laptops?

It's the same for me it's always 3.8 ghz on my 4690

It's not that big of a deal m8 don't worry

It is a big deal, my idle temps are 35-40 and that can reduce lifespan

35-40 is fine. load temps are what reduce lifespan.

anyways, heres what I found. I never use SpeedStep.

Did you check that speed step is turned on in your BIOS?

 

 

 

Someone figured it out! It was to do with the power saving features in windows 10, you have to set it to balanced.

 

Then the voltages will regulate themselves and speedstep will start working if you have it enabled! :)

Lol thats pretty basic mate, having your power plan at high performance specifically says in it that processor minimum state is something like 95 or 100%
