SSD From Desktop to Laptop

Is it possible to just take an SSD from a desktop with an OS and other data on it and just put it into a latop and change the boot drive to that drive? Will all the programs and everything still work perfectly ok?

it'll *propbably* work to some extent.

except not a single driver is right, so it'll be REALLY iffy.
