I bought 32GB of TridentX for a really good deal and I put them in my X79 UP4. I checked the manual to verify the proper ram slots. It booted fine and showed all 32GB in bios BUT one stick is seeming not to work, the other three sticks appear in the memory channel but the fourth doesn't. I've moved the stick around other channels and the problem followed.

Under the Windows System info it says 24GB whereas CPU-Z reports 32GB of RAM but only reports "Triple" under the Channel section.

I've tried cleaning the contacts but it didn't seem to help.

Any advice? I'm hoping there is some life left in it since it still shows up in certain parts.

Could be your OS not supporting more than 24GB of RAM.

If it was a busted RAM slot, I don't think it would show up in BIOS even.

When you change the Ram around you said it followed. As-in the RAM wouldn't register depending on which slot it was in? If a RAM stick isn't reading in all of you DIMMs then it is probably the RAM stick itself. If I had to guess.

Yeah just strange that it can see it but not at the same time!

Have you put other RAM in the slot where the problematic RAM sat to see if the slot works properly?

Have you tested each stick 1 by 1 on a slot you know is working?
