NZXT s340 cables question

Go to solution Solved by Aleksbgbg,

Hello,

I was looking at some cheap windowed cases and i liked NZXT s340 (saw also some reviews from Linus and pcper). My current case is a cheapo-chinese-crap and I want to change it.

I have a question:

1. Does anybody know how long is the USB3 cable for the front panel I/O?

2. Are the included fans really molex or they have also a standard 3/4 pin breakout?

My mobo is an Asrock extreme 3 r.2.0 and the usb3 header is all the way to the left :( There are 2 ways of plugging it in, the first one is through the mobo (resting the cable on the video card ) which is very ugly picture and the other way is through the 8 pin CPU hole on the upper left corner. I want to use the second method for aesthetics, so I need to know if the usb3 cable is long enough. Otherwise i will have to use only the rear usb3 connectors which is a pity.

Thanks!

USB 3.0 can go all the way across if you detach it from the cable ties, but even keeping it attached also is fine for quite a way.

You can take the fans out of the MOLEX pins to use them as 3/4 pin cables, however I choose to stick with MOLEX as I'm 1 fan header short for all 4 fans. Pretty sure though, the fans run at full speed when MOLEXed, even with 3 pins you can control them from BIOS at least. Doesn't bother me though.

Final note, you would be told this by every website, person and so on who has experience with this but DONT SCRATCH THE TOP OR THE WINDOW!!! It is so easily scratchable, the window was scratched by a MICRO FIBRE CLOTH! The top also, I threaded the fan screws for my AF140s on top of the case and managed to scratch it (forgot about that). Be careful ;)!

Thanks man. I am not worried about the fans or fan headers (have a fan hub and lots of fans).  So i guess i will buy it. It's good thing the cables are all black.

PS: The window could be an issue because we have a young cat :) but hey I will give it a go.
