NAS Question

I think you can do it wirelessly, but I would suggest doing it through an Ethernet cable.

The majority of NAS solutions are wired, due to the limitations of WiFi. However, the clients (devices accessing the NAS) can be either wired or wireless. Wired will usually result in higher speed transfers, but it is not necessary.

So I can do it wirelessly. Great. Sadly my sister got a laptop with only 16 GB of storage, and it's already maxxed out, with 4 computers and laptops in this house, this will be very useful.

16GB of storage? Or do you mean 16GB of available storage space?

It depends on the route you take for it. If you're wanting to connect the NAS itself to the network wirelessly, you'll be needing to build the system yourself, rather than buying a NAS enclosure, as all of them (AFAIK) are wired connection only.

If you're just wanting to connect to the NAS wirelessly, but have the NAS itself wired to the network, then virtually any NAS solution would connect that way. The solution you go for will depend on your needs, though. Probably the most important aspect of a NAS is the drives. You'd be wanting to go for drives like WD Reds, which are designed for 24/7 NAS operation.

Yeah, the laptops were $150 tho. 16-32 GB.

Sounds like a Chromebook sort of deal, where you're expected to use cloud storage for most things.

A NAS is a good solution for those laptops. You should be able to map the NAS as a network drive so it basically appears as a normal desktop drive.
