[SOLVED] Failed Uninstall, Tried Everything

Hey, all! Seems as if I only post for help.

 

Anyways, I'm trying to uninstall ZoneAlarm on my Windows 10, 64-bit machine. I tried doing a normal uninstall, but ZoneAlarm kept notifying me that I "hadn't restarted since last install. Please restart before installing".

So I did, three times. No help there.

The ZoneAlarm Privacy Service won't stop, and I can't disable it autostarting w/ the system.

I reeeeally don't want to have to do a system restore, although I could. I have a restore point just before installing ZoneAlarm.

I've tried changing myself to owner on C:\ . I've tried getting access to the C:\Program Files (x86)\CheckPoint directory, and any and all of its sub-files and folders.

 

I've even tried using the takeown and icacls commands in command prompt and PowerShell. No avail!

 

I guess this is what I get for messing with a firewall.

 

Any ideas?

This smells like a Virus, much in the way AVG does it.

Search for an official removal tool.

ZoneAlarm isn't a virus, but good idea.

Probably need a removal tool to uninstal it... Just like Norton

Does Win 10 have a safe mode you can try booting into? Sometimes helps with tricky uninstalls. Programs that can't be uninstalled by clicking "uninstall" should be burned with fire.

Yeah, that's what I'm seeing on other forums, but the issue is Windows already thinks it's uninstalled. The program doesn't show up in control panel.

Welp, ZoneALarm is uninstalling after I tried reinstalling a fully-compatible Win10 version.

 

It's done uninstalling, I'll reboot and let you all know how it went.
