Low Amperage

Hi,

 

    My Dad needs a PC for his boat. He runs a digital TV satellite (bought on-line) that takes 2A. I gave him an ipad but he hates it. I don't blame him, I don't like touchscreens either. Basically, he wants something with a keyboard and mouse that he can plug into a modern 1080p tv (2A also, incredible as it may seem), to surf the internet, watch youtube videos etc... so it has to be able to deal with 1080p. It also needs usb ports, etc.

 

My personal rig is an mITX build using the Podigy and an i5 3770k, overclocked... 

 

I was thinking of buying an Atom build etc, but I don't actually know much about them.

 

Can anyone post a recommendation and the amperage it uses?

Yeah, I use a i5 3770k, too.

 AMD FX 8350, ASUS GTX 770 DirectCUII, ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0, CORSAIR TX 750, CORSAIR VEANGENCE BLACK 8GB'S 1600Mhz, Hyper 212 evo, Aerocool Strike-X GT, Crucial M4 128GB SSD, Seagate Baracuda 2TB, Asus CrapReader

Thanks WoodenMarker but that processor uses 55 amps (I'm guessing it runs at about 1 volt). 

 

I need to get it down to about 10...

55 amps? O.o Where'd you get that info? You mean watts right?

The lowest power consumption cpu is the 1065T on idle at 11w. http://cpuboss.com/cpu/AMD-Phenom-II-X6-1065T

Yeah, 11Watts at 1 volt would be 11 amps. I think I'm going to use a raspberry pi. 

What about the usb ports?
