I'm thinking of building a home server. This is my current build with parts I've selected. Suggestions/comments? Im aware the SSD isn't the best option. Ill probably throw in an 1TB HDD too but something I desire is fast boot-up times and Im on a $1000 budget. CPU's will be purchased used. The GPU is just so I can hook up a monitor. I also know I can get slightly cheaper RAM but I like the looks of the one I picked out enough to pay an extra $10-15

Gaming - Ryzen 9800X3D | 64GB 6400mhz cl30 9070 XT

Homelab - many servers...constantly changing.

3970X/256GB - 5950X/128GB ECC - 5600G/96GB - 3400GE/16GB - 3400GE/16GB

What are you using it for? Rendering? NAS? Cloud Computing?

Either way, looks really good and wow for 1000 bucks too.

Yeah your choice to get another ssd/hdd in there, but it may help.

I thought I had some money... Oh wait... I spent it all ;(

Seems fine to me, since according to Linus's video  you can get old server hardware cheap...

its my plan to use it for all of those things, this will be a first for me and I have a lot of unexplored areas as far as server stuff. Its something I've always wanted to do and learn. I also plan to host some game servers and things like teamspeak.

Where the **** did you get an e5-2670 for $100?

But looks good to me. Complies with my guide, especially at that price.

Also, if you're not too worried about speeds or warranty on RAM, you could always buy used server RAM off Ebay for $2.50 USD/GB of stuff around 1333-1600 GHz. You can find some 1333 for under $2/gig.
