windows 7 won't update.

So i just finished building my first PC and i got windows 7 ultimate 64bit (planning to update to win 10) i installed the OS onto my SSD successfully, and i was able to install a driver that allowed my to use Ethernet.

After that i tried to install all the latest updates for windows 7 ult... Accept i can't. When i go into "windows update" i click "check for updates" it comes up with "windows cannot search for new updates", windows update encountered an unknown error" code: 80072F8F. so now i'm stuck for this reason. and i can't use the default web browser it comes with because when i try to go on any website. it takes like no joke 30 mins to load some web pages and when it does it can't load it all because of some "Certificate error". 

 

so what do i do? i know its not my internet that is slow because on all my other devices that are connected it works fine. Also in device manager/other devices is the only drivers that say they need updates which was the one i was able to with the ethernet driver but the others i can't because it fails to connect to the internet to download them and it can't find m drivers on the usb that i downloaded from my laptop earlier. 

 

so yeah i'm stuck and i don't know what to do from here. I bet it is something really stupid or obvious. 

 

sorry this is probably unnecessarily long but thanks for reading. Now any suggestions?

yeah i think i might have just fixed it with that link you sent me. Turns out i needed to change my date and time because it was set in like 2009 -_____________-

This clearly isn't the answer for your case, but if you've just finished a clean installation of Windows 7, and started searching for updates, it can take a couple of hours or so before it finishes searching. I don't know why this is, but in the past I've just left the PC searching, and come back to it like 6 hours later, and it will have found all the update.

Yeah but mine just stopped searching for updates and came up with the error i explained.
