Problem ejecting an external harddisk

I recently purchased myself a WD My Passport Ultra (USB 3) external harddrive, but i'm having a problem removing it safely after I'm done using it. I have no programs running in the background (that I know of) that could still be using the drive. Also, this problem doesn't appear always, just most of the time and the only solution I have found is restarting/shutting down the computer, but that's inconvinient.

I am using WIN10 Home Insider Preview build 11082 64-bit, but this problem has also appeared whilst using a 'normal' copy of win10.

I will attach a picture of the error and a screenshot of using LockHunter (that doesn't solve the problem)
