I just purchased a new macbook pro 13 retina and I'd like to pick up a thunderbolt dock to give me some more ports.

The dock needs to plug into a thunderbolt port on my laptop and have the following additional ports:

- HDMI

- mini displayport

- 2 USB

- USB type C would be nice but not necessary

The most important thing is that both hdmi and mini dp work at the same time so I can use 2 external monitors concurrently. Ive taken a look at some docks that have both mini dp and hdmi, but sometimes reviews say that they cant both be used at the same time and its hard to sift through the ones that work from the ones that dont

Get the Elgato Thunderbolt 2 Dock:

Apple US: http://tinyurl.com/oh82ajl

Amazon US: http://tinyurl.com/jbhu5wj

It only works with HDMI and Thunderbolt with a TRUE thunderbolt display.

This is all I can find.

What monitors are you using?

Honestly, just 2 random monitors that we had lying around in the lab. One is just a regular old samsung monitor connected via HDMI. The other is an old old mac cinema display (I think?) from many years ago that has dvi that I had to use an adapter to convert to miniDP...I'm not sure that counts as a true thunderbolt display so I think that renders the elgato a nonstarter unfortunately
