[Build log] The Extrion- a budget PC with a story.

MoonlightSylv

This being my first build it wasn't perfect, but I love it.

The story

I had always wanted to build a gaming PC but never made a commitment to earn any money. But during summer, I was at a family thing and there was a recycle pile at the end of the street, when we drove by it I saw an HP Pavilion Slimline s5220y (LGA77 board and Pentium) and I grabbed it, noticing the CPU could be upgraded (without any knowledge of CPU sockets) I got excited, I ordered 2GB of DDR2 (I know...) and it came to life. I knew I needed a graphics card though, I made my own local mini-business thing where I fixed peoples computers (I am and was 12 so it wasn't all that popular) and I made $70 USD and since I was excited I ordered the Asus AMD Radeon R7 240L which honestly isn't terrible, it runs CS:GO, GMod, and even some more demanding title like Bioshock Infinite decently at 1280x1024 and 1920x1080 if you turn down the settings. I also ordered some off-brand 400w slimline PSU. And I used no case, but somehow that 775 motherboard still survived, IT'S FREAKING INVINCIBLE! A while later I ordered the Rosewill Ranger-M case, it was decent and was better than literally nothing. Nothing much more happened for a while except a modded in plexiglass side panel and a CX430 PSU. Then on Christmas I got an ASRock H97M Pro4, Intel Core i3 4170, and 8GB (2x4GB) of Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3-1600 and some cash, with that moola I bought the Corsair Carbide Spec-01 case which is SOOO MUCH BETTER! I will be upgrading the R7 240L to an R9 380x (and a new PSU).

(Specs in sig)

Pictures

Note: Cable management has improved I was just too lazy to post an updated picture.

Same with the VGA cord.

Looks awesome with the different colour lighting! Have you thought of putting some lighting strips around the side panel at a later date?
