Im going to start doing F@H on my old PC, and slightly on my current. I have some questions I would like to ask. I know how to setup the FAHControl client thingy.

How do I track my stats and such?
Do I need a account?

Any tips?

Ryzen 5 1600 - GTX 980 Ti - Broke.

  • Stats are attributed to an account
  • Yes
  • Fold for a team for bonus points, folding with a cpu is often pointless as you'll burn more energy than you'll gain points.

Linus team code is on the main folding sub section. You add the account in the settings of the client.

Our team number is 223518, you can add this during the installation/setup process, or just

add it in the desktop client after the fact. I think most things will be self explanatory.

F@H doesn't have a very official or strict account setup. But if you get yourself a passkey

this will work as a unique identifier fulfilling the same purpose.

Alternative one using data from stanford. http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/search.php

Having an account is not mandatory, a specific folding id is completely optional and for the

most part only required if you want personal stats, show up on scoreboards and such.

You don't gain bonus points by folding on a team. There is such a thing as QRB however,

quick return bonus, which you can get by using a passkey and meeting a couple

requirements with said passkey.

So, folding on a cpu is pointless because it has a bad power to point ratio compared to a

mid/high end gpu? Do you truly fold for points exclusively? what about people who may

not have a decent gpu in the same system they are folding on? What are they supposed

to be folding on, nothing because the ppd to power ratio is bad? I very much disagree and

find the idea rather silly. However, the actual work being done vs power spent is another

discussion entirely.

My GPU in that system only ever goes up to 40% usage. So idk if its really worth it.

My CPU returns a whopping 15k-20k PPD, my 970 on the other hand returns 350k-400k PPD... I do fold for points and to help find cures yes.

Not worth it how?

You could try a few different programs to check if they are giving you the right utilization.

hardware monitor, gpu-z, speccy and so forth. They don't always give the correct reading.

You could also try updating your drivers if you haven't done that in a long time, it can cause

problems eventually with new wu's and such.
