so i just got a new headset just before Christmas. the headphones seem to work fine and i have no issues there but the mic is super quiet even with the audio levels boosted to max. im trying to find a way to fix the issue. the headset is a plantronics rig headset that i bought at best buy. here is the specs page for it(http://www.bestbuy.com/site/plantronics-rig-505-lava-over-the-ear-gaming-headset-black-orange/4315500.p?id=1219743049871&skuId=4315500). i have the headphones plugged into the audio ports in the back on the io plate. im not sure what is a good way to fix the issue, maybe a usb analog to digital converter, or sound card, or write off that mic and get a better one. please help

I'm guessing you've already gone into "recording devices" in the sounds option on your computer, right? If not, do so, and make sure it's on default and everything.

If you have a desktop, normally there's 2 different places for headphones and mic, so try to rearrange. Plug in a different mic to see if it's the computer.

Whence you do that, we can actually start troubleshooting.

ok so just tested the front audio ports on my desktop and the mic works fine. super clear and loud. only issue now is that with the way my pc is sitting the cord isnt long enough. im guessing i should just buy a longer cord. any suggestions or is any cord good enough.
