8 Days?

Just started folding, seems pretty cool. I'm running this on my ole' Athlon 64 X2 with a GeForce 8800 GTX . Wondering why I have 8 days to wait, and If I can run put on of the load on the GPUpost-253789-0-51818500-1451699087_thumb.

Id say your hardware is kind of weak (compared to more modern products).

So, that long wait is there because of advanced calculations on weaker hardware.

Theory is when you know everything but nothing works. Practice is when everything works but you dont know why. In this computer, theory and practice are combined: Nothing works and i dont know why.

 

Atleast i can manage Some things, like my current OC personal best.

  1. Pretty sure that GPU isn't supported in F@H...... It's old. VERY old.

For the CPU, wait a while. Your WU is still in the very beginning, estimates are very inaccurate. Just give it that 1h for it to settle down.

Even then, your CPU is also pretty slow. Be prepared.

Although I've never looked into Folding@Home, I keep hearing that in the beginning the time predictions are way too long. They should soon get much shorter. :)

I've overclocked from 2.5Ghz to 2.9Ghz. lol, I got to 3 but I kept bluescreening. What's the Lowest gpu I may plan on buying a HD 6850 for $50

You're miss-reading that page. You will finish that work unit in 3.84 days, but the deadline is in 8.32 days. Its saying that you can submit it after 8.32 days, but you won't get any points for it.

Supported GPUs, nvidia anyway, 400 series or newer (620 is stated as the minimum now but the 400s still work in my experience). 8000-300 series haven't been supported since 2012 and won't even start folding no matter how hard you try. Also the 64 X2 is dual core right? F@H really only works with quad cores or bigger now, otherwise I'd fold on all my PCs, get a cheap 600 series or newer GPU and you'll be cranking out WUs, a 950 can do 75,000-95,000 PPD if setup correctly
