Heyah,

I got headphones for Christmas, it doesn't have a built in mic so I have a few options.

I could return the headphones and exchange them for a cheaper headset and some store credit or pay a tiny bit more and get a more expensive headset [option 1, option 2] (really looking for 7.1 here).

Or I could buy a separate microphone to use with the headphones I already have (mod mic is way out of price range ). I was thinking maybe pick up a lav mic or try and find a microphone that plugs into my existing headphones (they have a detachable cable) [example, but a bit more expensive than I'd like]

Does anyone have any experience with any of the products I've posted or any knowledge on microphones/headphones?

I'm your typical gamer and often have some family shouting in the background and whatnot and would prefer not to have to use push to talk too much (ergo desktop mics are out of the question)

Thanks in advance for any help :)

I would go with a headset with build in mic but that's just personal preference. There are plenty of good headsets with 7.1 around the 100 euro mark. Atleast when you are not an audiosensitive derp who wants the best of the best.
