Isn't it widely/already accepted that 3-way SLI is for e-peen performance and not really valuable from a real-world use scenario?

Rather have dual 980Tis.

 

-SLI scaling isn't linear so you're losing more performance on 3 980s as opposed to 2 980Tis.

-Less heat and power consumption
