So I know Ideally I would get a redundant PSU, but I can't find an ATX style one, and the case I am getting only supports ATX.

My options are :

AX760 (not 760i)

HX850i

RMx/i1000

Personal experience is why I am sticking with corsair, and these options as they fit in budget, around £140 and they all have 2 8 pin CPU power cables as far as I can tell, which I need for the dual xeon chips.

Opinions?

fyi I will be adding this too, although not right away depending on when this build happens: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00E5C01NA/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1O07UI3BDTGZB&coliid=I2ZNEFLB1N84UK&psc=1

They do make redundant ATX PSU's like theses for tower servers:

Why do you absolutely have to have a redundent PSU? They are hard to find in an ATX form factor and on top of that are very expensive.

I don't :P I looked and didn't find any, these are the options since I can't do that, as redundant are better in servers.

I didn't say they didn't make them, I said I didn't find one, especially one that isn't going to blow the bank since I need around 700w

I don't even know if redundent PXUs come in an ATX form factor anyway. I think you would need to build a 1 or 2U server and buy a redundant PSU for that.

They do, just really expensive and I couldn't find any that meet the criteria for my build

After doing some searching on amazon for redundant ATX PSUs the highest wattage one I could find is 500W. Second it is EXPENSIVE:

plus I live in the UK so add shipping and possible import tax.

For server grade hardware that's fairly expected but they do make large wattage units.

Looks like all forms of a redundent PSU are expensive (they are server parts after all), you may want to reorganize your priorities if you are trying to build a server with redundant PSUs on a budget.

my other issue is that even the ones that I can find that meet the power requirements don't seem to have the full set of connectors needed.

if someone can find a PSU with around 800w and 2 8pin EPS, and 14 SATA power than I'll be impressed and happy. :P

I believe this was the same 800W unit you looked at from Newegg but meets all those needs, minus some sata connectors:

9 sata plus 3 molex doesn't give me enough for the hard drives, plus not much options in they way of any PCI power, not in the plan yet but I may add something to help with content creation and use it as a render box, seeing as it will have 24 threads already, let me still use the PC in my room while I work, say editing my airsoft teams gopro footage.

am I being too picky here?

Well usually when your talking about high wattage units with lots of expansion they are more gears to the rackmount PSU's since those tend to be the next step up from tower style servers. For the Athena power unit you can use a splitter or breakout board for more sata connections.

That is what is bugging me, it is a 4U rack case, but the expansion issues are why I was thinking just getting the high end desktop PSU's as it gives me the options to expand and I have all the cables I need in a bag on a shelf about the case in the rack, as well as being unlikely to fail.

If there is enough length to fit the longer style PSU's you could modify the rear mount to hold a 4U PSU in place.

It's fairly open, is it a complicated procedure modding to fit?

Oh that case has a removable PSU plate so you can fit any PSU as long as it's not too long and your able to get a new mounting plate of the correct size.

so I have to find a plate, and a 4U PSU? if this wasn't server gear that would be really easy to find :/

The plate might be something that they specially make, you may be able to get away with using the old plate but modifying the hole or mounting points.
