Agarest: yay or nay?

Saw that the Agarest series is on sale on Steam. Thinking about picking one of them up because I really like SRPGs. Can anyone attest to its quality? Honestly I don't have high standards with these games, I even kind of enjoy the janky ones. I see that it was made by Idea Factory, and I played Hyperdevotion Noire and really liked it, so I'm hoping it is at least somewhat similar.

IF you like SRPG then go ahead. It's a good game but it gets boring fast.

Boring in terms of gameplay or story? I usually skip the story for the most part anyway.
