Open Style Case + PSU

azorahai

Hi, I'm looking for an open style case for an ATX board alternative to the Fractal Design Define S as those are lacking some dust filters. I also need your recommendation on a PSU and fans.

My build so far:

CPU: Intel 6700k

CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S 55.0 CFM

Motherboard: Asus Maximus VIII Hero

Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX (4 x 8 GB) DDR4-2400

Storage: Samsung 950 Pro M.2-2280 512GB SSD

Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 980 Ti Strix

Operating System: Windows 10 Home

PSU: Opting for about 1000W as I will add a second Strix at a later date to run SLI. My monitor is a 1440p 21:9 LG 34UC97

Fans: Any recommendations for reasonably silent?

Case: Something very open concept like the Fractal Design Define S but with better dust filters.

Thx

Get a better 980 Ti... and if you want to do dual GPU later on, just go somewhere like an R9 Fury.

Thx for the feedback. Not a fan of the Strix?

i'm confused

how is Fractal Define S open style?

All drive bays and grills removed. I can re-word to "just need a nice open space inside without the crap". Granted I could just unscrew it from a corsair 750d lol

Yeah.

I noted that in my next reply. Because while I gotta say the 980 Ti on its own is a great card, I gotta say the R9 Fury or Fury Nano works better if you're doing dual GPU.

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!

Fair. I am a fan of Asus, but will certainly consider some other cards. Any recommendations on a good silent PSU around 1000w and case?

The Strix is a fine Card. If you like the Style, go for it.

For SLI i would choose something like the Poseidon though.

Thx. SLI would be at a later stage if at all. I could potentially get away with 1 card so this seems like the one

The asus strix isnt the best option for price or for anything at all. Don't listen to people if they say the strix is the best option. Sure the strix looks nice but cards such as the g1 gaming, the msi gaming and evga sc are better options.

doesn't really look like much of a price difference. most benchmarks i've seen show the strix doing well, but again, i'm a noob.

I mean if you really want to get a card that has a nice aesthetic and the small price difference with no real performance gains for the price bump go ahead. When I was looking at my build I watched a ton of reviews from jayz to linus to austin evans and learned a ton. Watch all the 980 ti reviews you can and find your ideal card.
