OS Transfer

So I'm anticipating that on Friday I might be getting some upgrades for my PC. I would like to know if there is any work involved with moving a hard drive with an OS installed to another computer.

 

Currently running a ca.2009 Gateway tower (AMD Phenom II X4 820 CPU) with some personal upgrades (r7 260x, 500w PSU, and a 1tb HDD with Windows 10)

 

I am hoping that I'll be upgrading to an Athlon X4 860K, with a new mobo, chassis, and RAM.

 

So is there any real labor involved with the OS being used on a new board?

An 860K isn't a really good jump from a Phenom II X4 of any kind. Just OC the bitch if you can.

I am getting a new motherboard. The old board doesn't support OC, and in general is just some Gateway piece of trash. But would moving the drive with the OS work without having to reinstall?

One more question. The Windows 10 I have is an upgrade from a disc of 8.1. Best way to do it from there?
