ZTE Axon Elite Review

applesuxD

Axon elite is basically the Axon but for regions in asia

For my case.. its Singapore :)

The Axon is a Phone that has flagship specs, but is in the mid-range price point.

It looks to be a flagship killer with features packed and a good screen while maintaining good battery life..

IMHO i think they have done it
but some drawbacks are still present.. lets dive deep into this

Specs:

http://www.gsmarena.com/zte_axon_elite-7542.php

Snapdragon 810

Adreno 430

3Gb ram (they took one less from the Pro.. which shouldnt be done imho)

32gb internal

Design

The phone design is really great, some people may say it is ugly.. but personally it looks sleek and feels very premium on hand.

They also added Leather on the top and bottom which was a very nice touch..

the screen to body ratio is pretty good,no complains about it.

The speakers are front facing... but only one side works for videos and stuff.. the other one works for phone calls only..

which bothered me alot,it could be double sided since it shows to work for phone calls.

The phone has DUAL SIM, which is very handy for people who need to travel, being able to switch between sim cards easily by swiping down quick settings to switch.

The second sim slot is Multipurpose,it allows for a sd card also, of up to 128gb.

Display and Battery Life

The display of the phone is Very good

1080p display

It boasts an AMOLED display.. Looks crisp and does have really good colour calibration which is very satisfying to look at.

Brightness is very good on the phone.. although not very bright, still good enough under the sun.

Battery life on the phone is amazing for the Elite

Mainly because ZTE lowered the Pixel count on the phone from 1440p to 1080p

Hold your horses pixel loving whores!

1440p on a phone will make 0 difference as the screen is so tiny... you cant tell the difference

It is a smart move from ZTE.. by doing so,they extended on screen time from 5 hours average to a whopping average of 8.5 hours with 10% left on screen time on 25% brightness,WiFi and earphones. Pulled an all nighter watching movies on it

It has a 3000Mah battery... pretty sweet

Camera

Heres one of the drawback.. the camera isnt great sadly

1080p 30fps(60 for U.S.A)

4k 30fps

720p 60fps

Its full of features such as Manual focus.. Iso.. shutter speed... the list goes on

But the camera isnt noob friendly and will need a ton of calibration to get photos looking amazing

It uses dual camera at the back, one 13MP and one 2MP

and Dual flash...

It seems gimmicky at first but if you use dual exposure properly, it can be very useful for some tricky photography

But Its nonetheless a phone camera, and for real photographers we use DSLR

The image isnt very sharp, the lowlights are decent if well calibrated... and you need some stable hands to get non blurry photos... but you can again, calibrate it

To simplify.. the camera is packed with features .. if well used, makes for an awesome camera

on auto.. It simply sucks big fat balls and its not noob friendly by any means

and again.. if your a camera noob, then most likely you wouldnt bother taking amazing photos anyway.

Overall, if the camera had better auto shutter speed and faster focus, itll be very noob friendly and pretty much killing flagship phones..

Sony Xperia M5 is a phone with an amazing camera with super fast focus... and 21 MP camera.. rapes flagship .. but sacrifices on many other parts of the phone..

Audio

ZTE claims that the phone audio is improved with a better Source

32bit 192Khz Audio

to put it simply..

If you have spotify premium/you buy non compressed music, the audio feature works

Other than that.. it probably doesnt

The bitrate of the music file is what matters.

It is not useful for an average consumer but definitely does for an audiophile or those who is seeking cleaner listening

Overall..

this phone targets average consumers who want a snappy phone.. good for multitasking with enough ram and a flagship Proccesor and Gpu packed inside of it

it also targets people who want a very good display with good clean audio.. Great for movies and listening.. anyone who uses a sensitive in ear monitors will definitely be able to tell a difference.. something like even an ath-Im02 that i use as a daily driver, can tell the difference..

It is very consumer friendly.. simply to put it

-looks good

-display is good

-camera isnt bad

-amazing battery life

-audio is good

-always snappy, multitasks very well.

-and the Price is good for $300-350

for around 200 less than most flagships..

8.5/10 would recommend.

lemme know how you guys feel about this review.. its my first :3

thanks

We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”
