What do we benefit of having partitions?

What are the PROS and CONS?

I have 250GB SSD with my OS and some games with it. Now I purchased a new HDD. Hitachi 500GB 7200RPM.

Should I partition it? If yes why and how large should I divide the spaces?

Thanks in advance!

I can only tell you in short, that mostly there are various benefits of partitioning your drive for instance: less prone to data loss, as partitions are smaller there is increased somewhat of performance,

as for the space of each partition, you should not go for extreme small partitions.

I would partition both disks in half. Meaning ssd two partitions 125gb each. And HDD two partitions 250gb each.

But just think in advance what kind of files where will you put. Usually I partition my SSD in two halfs. The first being about 60-120 gb in size and having only windows. The other partition is for all the programs.
