Hi All,

I am posting this in a state of extreme panic and so I have turned to the LTT community for some help in fixing the mess I have created!

A Bit of Back Story:

I am running a Laptop, i7-3612QM @ 2.10gHz, 16GB of Ram, NVIDIA 740M GPU, Windows 8 64Bit.

I decided that I would get MSI Afterburner to see if I could push my system slightly, so I did and I started messing around with some core and memory clocks. Everything seemed to be running fine, until today were all s*** broke loose.

What Happened Today:

The game I was running (X-Plane 10) didn't want to load, it just kept black screening upon opening. Then it loaded a little but I kept getting error messages saying that my NVIDIA driver was being blocked for X-Plane and that it crashed. (I thought this to be very odd since my drivers were all up to date). So I tried downloading a fresh driver and installing it, that did nothing.

My next step, was to uninstall drivers for it via Device Manager, then re-install a new driver which I got from the NVIDIA website. Unfortunately when I tried installing the new driver it said no Graphic devices compatible for the graphic driver. This would make sense since my 740M was no longer appearing in Device Manager =>  Display Manager - Only the Intel HD Graphics 4000 appeared.

I am in a state of utter panic and at a loss with ideas, I would be extremely grateful for any help you could provide!

Many Thanks,

Ben

[P.S I have attached game log just in case you want to see if you can uncover any information from it.]

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the 740M a locked GPU?

I'm not sure. If it was locked I don't think Afterburner would have allowed to change levels.

To be quiet honest, this could just be me imagining that afterburner did anything but the actual issue is getting my driver to work

UPDATE: Game is now loading but running off the Integrated Intel Graphics, probably since my 740M isn't being recognized due to drivers. I would be most grateful for help on how to get drivers to recognized that there is a compatible graphics card, in turn allowing drivers to install and my graphic card becoming recognized.
