I feel like I have had nothing but problem since I switched to windows 10. Ugh. Anyways.   My PC crashes very randomly. I can go for days without a crash and some days it might crash twice.

Ill be browsing a website  and usually have something else running and everything starts to get slow and eventually freezes. If I leave it sit, it goes to a blue screen "your pc ran into a problem and needs to restart"  I believe it says  "unexpected store exception".  It never restarts and just hang there so I force power it down.

When I restart it, sometime I get "Reboot and select proper boot device". I then force power down and restart again and usually it works fine.

The only thing different with my PC is a new case and downloaded Steam. It seems to have happened around that time but unsure if either has to do with this. I attached screen shots of my event viewer. The reboot and select image I found online.  Clearly im not the best with this stuff so need a little help. Im not sure where to even begin here

When you get that error, it means the BIOS couldn't properly find the boot disk (the hard drive where your OS is stored). But I can't tell you more than that. Sorry.

As for the pictures, those are errors from when it freezes and you have to force it to shut off (if you couldn't tell). Very odd... is there a problem with your drives?

Now that I think of it... I got this case because it had a hot swap bay. I believe I changed the right stuff in Bios to be able to use it. Although at this point I dont remember exactly what I did change. Maybe I should try to revert back to default settings? If so will pulling the battery do that or something else?

Depends on the motherboard. Some have buttons to reset CMOS, others require you to manually do so. There may be an option in the BIOS settings, but if there isn't, follow the steps below.

1) Turn off your PC.

2) Unplug the power cable from the PSU.

3) Repeatedly press and release the power button until the computer stops reacting, then press it two more times just to be sure.

4) Open the case and locate the battery.

5) Remove the battery and wait 15-30 seconds.

6) Reverse the process.

i had that same issue with my system and it turned out to be a broken sata power so i would check your power connections to your main drive and make sure there not loose or that the wires are broken and if possible swap it with another open connection and see if the problem keeps happening.

Please Quote so i know you have replied. | If we have provided a solution to your problem mark it with answer found.

And also please read the COC and avoid the embarrassment and lecture that will ensue.

Interesting. This case doesnt have much for room, especially with the foam on the panels, I had a do a bit of cramming. If my bios reset doesnt do the trick, ill be sure to check them. Actually ill just replace them if there is still a problem.

I clicked on "Load Optimized Defaults". It looks like its all back to default. Is there any ways to test this or is time the only test?

Well, one way is to see if the settings look different. Otherwise, yes. It's just time.

As for the possible problem with the cables, perhaps try another?

Im a bit anal with wiring. I pretty sure there is no strain on any connections. Doesnt mean there isnt a problem though. If I still get crashing I have a fist full of new cables I can use. All new. Ill follow up later on this thread. Hopefully fixed. If you hadnt wrote your first post, I never would have thought Bios. I dont care so much about hot swap. Ill just add more drives as needed for now.

Hey, I was just telling you what you could get from Google: When you get an error like "No boot device found", it just means the BIOS couldn't find a proper boot loader. A boot loader is stored on a hard drive when an OS is installed. When you turn the computer on, the boot loader boots the OS from the drive. Basically, it was telling you that it couldn't find the boot loader on the drive with the OS.

That was probably confusing, so here's my point in summary. I didn't give you the idea about something being wrong in the BIOS settings, you got that idea yourself and I shouldn't be credited for it.

Good luck with your issue.
