How would this run games?

Getting a laptop with these specs: 17.3" 1080p res, 8gb DDR3l ram, Nvidia GT 940m w/ 4gb DDR3 dedicate, core i5 5200u @ 2.2Ghz-2.7Ghz.

Would I be able to run games such as Skyrim, BF4, or Heroes and Generals at low/med settings? Also, how much would lowering the resolution to 1600x900 help?

900p would be fine at 17.3" and would help your framerate a lot

i used to play 900p on a 19" monitor, youll do fine

youd be able to run them more medium to high

reducing it may help, but you can play them easily

BF4 will run at low settings 1080p, ~30-40fps I think.
