Shouldn't be that then. Is your HDD/SSD in good condition? Are drivers updated?

When I'm playing games

Prime test your CPU. http://www.mersenne.org/download/

Then test your GPU. https://unigine.com/products/benchmarks/valley/

If there won't be thermal throttle report.

Then try running your games on another monitor.

If that doesn't help. Install OS on new drive and give a quick spin of the game. 

If none of the above help, report.

 

EDIT:

How much FPS are you getting in games?

Do you have additional programs installed to control monitor brightness, like F.lux?
