1. Try restarting it
2. Try reinstalling GPU drivers
3. Profit. Works for me all the time.

I have a Lenovo s21e and I can't adjust the brightness at all. It's running Windows 8.1. It was working fine and then I shut it down for 3 hours and when I started it back up, it was like this. I have not run updates or video card driver updates at all since I got this so that rules that out.
