ips is hella old and I don't think it's even IPS, I don't think anyone makes 1440p panels with 1996 technology. pcmonitor.info reports it as AHVA panel, which is only IPS type.

AH-IPS is the newest type of IPS panel improved in every area.

It's really not a replacement.  LG owns IPS technology and the name, and AHVA is AU Optronics version of an IPS panel.  They cannot legally call it IPS so it's always described as IPS-like.

if they can't really call it that it's not really that then, it's similar.

honesatly i wouldn't get teh pg258q it might be cheaper but at 25inchs text is pretty small. i would just save a bit more and get the pg278q

too expensive

i dont worry, i tested 1440p on my 21inch 1080p monitor and the text isnt that small

IPS is a large category. AH-IPS is a specific type of panel inside the IPS category. I think both of those monitors use AH-IPS panels, one spec sheet is just more specific than the other.
