Project Fi Tablet Support Android and Ios

Project Fi, Google’s carrier service, is a great idea currently stymied by a limited rollout. Only owners of Nexus 5X, 6, and 6P devices can test drive what it’s like to have Google as a carrier, for good or bad. Google’s now loosening that tight gadget grip a teeny bit and letting in data-only tablets free of charge, you just have to pay for data like always.

As you’d expect, the Nexus 7 and 9 can take advantage of Project Fi’s new offering along with the Galaxy Tab S. A little less expected is Apple’s iPad mini 4 and iPad Air 2. Keep in mind that you’ll need to already have a Project Fi account, but if you have a Nexus, you’ll be able to order a data-only chip with a compatible tablet (though you’ll need a SIM adapter for the Nexus 7 and Tab S).

But where Google really continues to circumvent traditional carriers is that it won’t be charging a monthly“device fee” for connecting a tablet to your account. Instead, you just pay for the normal $10 for 1GB of data per month. You’ll just have two devices capable of sipping away on your data plan. As Android Police notes, Google may not even be charging customers for the extra SIM. We’ve reached out to Google to verify if that’s true.

THIS is 100% good

as if you use 0 data

There are some similar companies trialing similar things in NZ. My parents are on a shared plan. Basically dad pays $59 for the plan, and then mum pays $10 to share his plan.

No quite as awesome as google, but still great as some of the plans ($100 for 10GB data, unlimited calls and texts) basically provide you with unlimited options.
