First time ever making my own chart's and testing stuff, but I did not see this test anywhere else on net.

I also do not know were SPECIFICALLY to put this post on the forum, so if an admin needs to move it, feel free to.

What Does AMFVFW do? Well it allows you to use the H.264 Encoder on your AMD GPU via the AMD Video Coding Engine (VCE). So you can offload the recording from your CPU to the GPU.

Recently AMD dropped OVE support in CCC 15.7 (and later), so now we need to use AMF. Luckily, I know the guy who wrote the codec for Dxtory"OpencodeVFW" and got a newer version of "AMDAFW" to test.

This codec is currently in its testing phase and only has one developer, so performance varied and be a little bit more, and was more unpredictable between tests, but all in all, for file-size -> quality comparison, it Wins, Hands down (IMO) compared to the other codecs.

So lets see how well this works compared to other popular codec.

Note:

Video quality between all 3 codec tested are excellent. Can not really notice between the 3. All set to "True quality"  or Visual Equivalent.

My Test Setup:

FX-8320e @ 4.21

R9 280 3gb

16Gb Gddr3 1600 Ram

Dxtory Ver. 2.0.133

EDIT 1:

I forgot to say the setting on the benchmark were as follows:

Quality: Very High, SSAA: On, Texture filtering: AF 4X, Motion Blur: Off, Tesselation: Very High, VSync: Off, Advanced PhysX: On

Edit 2:

I forgot to mention. For anyone who uses the AMD AMF codec, if you are down scale recording, you need to enable "Multi Device Processing" in Dxtroy Adv Setting.

Otherwise even though you are writing at 30fps, your video will play back at like 5 fps.
